In etwas weniger als zwei Monaten findet die Night of Hockey Legends anlässlich des 25. Geburtstags der Vienna Capitals statt. Das Eishockey-Highlight des Jahres, bei dem ein Team bestehend aus Caps-Legenden auf eine Auswahl tschechischer Olympiasieger von 1998 und weiterer Weltmeister trifft, steigt am 13. Dezember ab 18:00 Uhr in der STEFFL Arena. Das Teilnehmerfeld ist gespickt mit großen Namen und legendären Spielern der Eishockeygeschichte.
The Night of Hockey Legends in conjunction with the 25-year anniversary of the Vienna Capitals takes place in less than two months! The hockey highlight of the year, in which a team consisting of Caps Legends will take on a squad of Czech Olympic Champions of 1998 and World Champions, takes place on the 13th of December at 6pm at the STEFFL Arena. Some big names of the past and legendary figures of the sport are set to participate.

Der Ticketverkauf für die Night of Hockey Legends startet am 20. Oktober um 10:00 Uhr. Die erste Verkaufsphase ist lediglich Caps-AbonnentInnen vorbehalten, die einerseits 25 Prozent Rabatt auf ihr Ticket bekommen und andererseits auch ein Vorkaufsrecht auf ein zweites Ticket besitzen. Eine Ausnahme bildet das Heimspiel der Vienna Capitals am 25. Oktober gegen die Pioneers Vorarlberg. Bei diesem Spiel ist der Ticketverkauf an der Abendkassa der STEFFL Arena bis maximal zwei Tickets pro Besucher für alle geöffnet. Online (und bei allen Wien Ticket Vorverkaufsstellen) startet der weltweite Verkauf ab 27. Oktober um 10:00 Uhr über vienna-capitals.at. Vollpreistickets gibt es bereits ab EUR 29,-. Ermäßigte Tickets sind ab EUR 21,- verfügbar, Kindertickets um EUR 14,5,-.
Ticket sales for the Night of Hockey Legends begin on October 20th at 10:00 a.m. The first sales phase is reserved exclusively for Caps subscribers, who receive a 25 percent discount on their ticket and also have the right of first refusal for a second ticket. The exception is the Vienna Capitals' home game on October 25th against the Pioneers Vorarlberg. For this game, ticket sales at the STEFFL Arena box office are open to everyone, with a maximum of two tickets per attendee. Online sales (and at all Wien Ticket advance booking offices) begin worldwide on October 27th at 10:00 a.m. via vienna-capitals.at. Full-price tickets start at EUR 29. Reduced-price tickets start at EUR 21, and children's tickets start at EUR 14.50.

Zum 25. Geburtstag der Vienna Capitals kehren einige der prägendsten Spieler des Hauptstadtvereins in die STEFFL Arena zurück. Dabei dürfen die legendären Nummern 4, 6 und 50 natürlich nicht fehlen. Phil Lakos, Rafael Rotter und Mario Fischer, die einzigen drei Spieler, deren Trikotnummern unter dem Dach der STEFFL Arena hängen, haben bereits zugesagt. Auch die Kapitäne der beiden Meistermannschaften haben sich angekündigt. Dieter Kalt und Jonathan Ferland reckten den Meisterpokal in den Jahren 2005 bzw. 2017 als erstes in die Höhe. Eine Meisterschaft blieb ihm im Caps-Jersey zwar verwehrt, sein Impact auf die Organisation ist aber bis heute spürbar: Die Rede ist natürlich von Benoit Gratton, ehemaliger Kapitän der der Wiener und MVP der Saison 2010/11. Das Torhüterduo bilden Bernhard Starkbaum, der wohl beste österreichische Goalie des vergangenen Jahrzehnts, und Christian Cseh, Meister von 2005. Weitere Meistercracks von 2005, die ihr Kommen angekündigt haben, sind Yuri Tsurenkov, Bob Wren und der große Darcy Werenka. Der finale Kader wird im Vorlauf zum Spiel bekanntgegeben.
Some of the most influential players in the history of the Vienna Capitals return to the STEFFL Arena for the 25-year anniversary of the club. The legendary players with the numbers 4, 6 and 50 couldn’t miss this event under any circumstances. Phil Lakos, Rafael Rotter and Mario Fischer, the only players, whose numbers hang from STEFFL Arena rafters, are set to participate. The captains of the two championship-winning teams have agreed to participate. Dieter Kalt and Jonathan Ferland were the first Caps to hoist the championship trophy in 2005 and 2017 respectively. He might have been denied a championship, but his impact on the organization is felt to this day – this can be none other than Benoit Gratton, former captain of the Capitals and the MVP in the 2010/11 season. The goalie duo consists of Bernhard Starkbaum, arguably the best Austrian netminder of the past decade, and Christian Cseh, member of the title-winning squad in 2005. Further champions from the 2005 team include Yuri Tsurenkov, Bob Wren and the great Darcy Werenka. The final squad will be announced prior to the game.

So ziemlich alles gewonnen, was es zu gewinnen gibt, hat der legendäre Jaromír Jágr. Der 53-jährige Hall of Famer, der Teil des Triple Gold Clubs (Stanley-Cup-Sieger, Olympiasieger, Weltmeister) ist, spielt in seiner Heimat immer noch für Rytíři Kladno in der tschechischen Extraliga. Ebenfalls Teil des Teams, das am 13. Dezember in der STEFFL Arena auflaufen wird, ist einer der besten Torhüter aller Zeiten, Dominik Hašek. Mit dem fünffachen Weltmeister David Výborný wird auch der Rekordspieler der tschechischen Nationalmannschaft das Eissport Zentrum Kagran beehren. The roster of the Czech team, which will square off with the Caps legends on December 13th couldn’t be more high-profile. The squad consists of Olympic Champions of 1998 and World Champions. One man, who won pretty much everything there is to win, is the legendary Jaromír Jágr. The 53-year-old Hall of Famer is a member of the Triple Gold Club (Stanley Cup Champion, Olympic Champion, World Champion) and is still actively playing for Rytíři Kladno in the Czech Extraliga. Also, part of the team, that will take the ice at the STEFFL Arena on December 13th, is one of the best goaltenders of all time, Dominik Hašek. The record-holder, when it comes to games played with the Czech national team, David Výborný will also grace Kagran with his presence. Gespielt wird die Night of Hockey Legends über drei Drittel zu je 15 Minuten. Pro Team werden vier Feldspieler auf dem Eis stehen. Im Falle einer Strafe gibt es kein Powerplay, stattdessen wird ein Penaltyshot ausgesprochen. Im Falle eines Unentschiedens nach 45 Minuten folgt eine fünfminütige Verlängerung. Sollte es nach der Verlängerung immer noch keinen Sieger geben, folgt ein Penaltyschießen mit fünf Schützen pro Team. Apropos Penaltyschießen: Unabhängig vom Spielausgang wird es jedenfalls noch ein solches geben, um den ein oder anderen legendären Move in der STEFFL Arena sehen zu können.
The Night of Hockey Legends will be played over three 15-minute-long periods. Both teams will field four skates. In the case of a penalty, there won’t be any powerplays, a penalty shot will be awarded instead. If the 45 minutes of regulation expire without a winner, a five-minute overtime follows. In the case that the score is still tied after overtime, a shootout with five attempts per team will take place until a winner is decided. Speaking of penalty shootouts: Regardless of the outcome of the game, there will definitely be one so that we can see one or two legendary moves in the STEFFL Arena.

Am Spieltag selbst gibt es im Fan Village vor der STEFFL Arena, welches bereits einige Stunden vor dem Spiel geöffnet sein wird, jede Menge zu erleben. So wird es unter anderem Autogrammstunden mit einigen Protagonisten der Night of Hockey Legends geben. Darüber hinaus wird es vor Ort Gewinnspiele, eigene Fanartikel und Food Trucks geben. Genaue Details zum Fan Village ergehen im Vorfeld der Night of Hockey Legends.
On game day itself, there is plenty to experience in the Fan Village in front of the STEFFL Arena, which will be open a few hours before the game. Among other things, there will be autograph sessions with some of the Night of Hockey Legends' protagonists. There will also be raffles, special fan merchandise, and food trucks on site. Further details about the Fan Village will be announced in advance of the Night of Hockey Legends.
